I cannot start this first blog for ICS without saying why it has been created. In one sentence: to let people in ICS know about things going on in the international club in Skåne. Please comment and feedback if you have time and hopefully this little blog will grow.

A year passes by very quickly and it would be a shame for this year to pass without a brief look back at the places we have been and the things we have done......
Looking for more interesting things to do with young children at an affordable price, the Fun House in Malmo became a regular meet up place for mother & toddlers on top of the regular meet ups in members homes.
Those with an eye for tasty food experienced some of the delights in Malmö. In no particular order, we were able to enjoy the flavour of fine dining at "dagens" (lunchtime) prices at the following places: Sture , Malmö Opera Grill, Novel's, Atmosfar and last but not least HIPP. The serach goes on to find good food at affordable prices, and restaurants that can give us space. Please drop a comment below if you can recommend any for us to try in 2012. A new event, "Weeknight Eat Out" started towards the end of the year, good for those members working regular 9 - 5 hours, an idea building on the "Mom's night out" broadened out to include all was inspired by Andrea.

Sticking to the lunch theme, but this time for those with a love of language - Swedish, French and German speaker's lunches have combined good food and the chance to keep language skills up to date. The French group took their talents to Copenhagen in September, and also have the energy to meet up informally on a weekly basis at a cafe in Malmö. Thanks to Marie, Jill and Annette.
Book worms were busy last year, Swedish historical novels, travelogues, fact and fiction with titles like: The Emigrant by Vilhelm Moberg, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and Third Country Kids. All consumed with good quantities of cake and savoury produced by book club members whose taste extends beyond the library. Thanks to Birgit for keeping us in line and setting up a page for the group on facebook to help us keep pace with the reading list!
Fundraising for other organisations, by ICS members should also be mentioned in this time of reflection.. An incredible art auction of work produced by the Malmö Basement Artists in aid of Bröstcancerföreningen Malmöhus. It took place at Kulturcentralen and will hopefully be a regular event. Also.... Hunger Project Members organised a number of fundrasing events including mini golf, for children and adults, in September and an International Women's Day Celebration at Pia's house.
Italian and Indian Food were on offer to those who joined the Cookery Group this year, Thanks to Sara and Leena for organising / co-ordinating the event. let's hope there are more next year, and maybe more "Meet and Eat" events too. Tanya hosted one of these and very successful it was too. If you are thinking of hosting one, but are worried you don't have enough china etc, ICS have a stock of cutlery and china that you can use.
The "new kid on the block" this year was the Photo group who started to meet at the end of the year, out in the wilds of Hollviken and then taking a trip to the Copenhagen Library to see a new exhibition there. People have turned up with compact cameras and also the latest digital SLRs, pooling what they know and joining in a 365 day challenge.

You may be wondering... the photo above is of a plate of sweets... any guesses how they are made?
