This week in Lund... "Inveiling" by Vaclav Havel is being performed this Thursday between 12.00 - 13.00 at the Lunch Time Theater, Pufendorf Institute, Biskopsgatan 3/Sölvegatan 2,
( 2nd floor, )  Lund. It is not far from the station. Our own Vanessa will be treading the boards as one of a cast of five in the production.

The National Theatre LIVE season has already started and on Thursday night, 29th March the English play " She Stoops to Conquer" can be seen at the Folkets Hus in Malmo or at other venues in Lund and Trelleborg. See the link for details. The Folkets Hus also hosts live performances from the New York Met.
Easter Events
Malmo City list many events to be enjoyed at the begining of April so take a look and take your pick, there is loads in the listings.  One in particular caught my eye, and that was the annual Kunstrundan . When artists open their homes so that you can see (and buy if you like) their works and catch a glimpse of their studios. There are also a number of galleries presenting a selection of artists in the area which is useful when planning your route.

Somewhere for Brunch...?

If you are looking for somewhere to while away a Sunday afternoon, or maybe somewhere to take visitors... there are a couple of spots that may be of interest. Firstly "Nya Trols" on Karlskronaplan offers an informal brunch that is good value at 95 SEK per person including a hot drink and juices.

Good reports have been received about the NEW  Green Food Market at the foot of the Turning Torso. They offer "the natural joy of food" with good honest produce at a good price, ad a great location too.
And if you enjoyed the ICS lunch at SMAK they do a good Sunday brunch too, but you can't book in advance, so get there in good time.

Out and about.... CYCLING !
If a dose of exercise is more your style, I just found the neatest website that gives ideas for cycle rides around Skane. Bikemap.net has loads of ideas uploaded by individuals and it gives the length and duration of tour so you can choose one that fits you. You can also upload your own if you fancy.

Good Dog Parks are essential as the Spring arrives and many of the beaches and open areas are no longer available to walk on with your dog in the holiday season. Many people know of the large park at Ribersborg that is open all year, but there are other options. The City provide a dog exercise map that is handy if you are in the city with your dog or have visitors.

5th March ICS Events Update

Announcement !  After the first few months , getting of the blog out  weekly then bi-weekly, from now on it is going to be produced monthly, at the beginning of the month. So... if you have events and news that you want included let me have it by the 30th March.
Thank You !

I realise that when I last wrote I anticipated the arrival of Spring, and virtually the evening the blog went out... it started to snow!  Let's hope we have seen the end of that weather for this year, and no more weather predictions from me. At least as the daylight starts to increase, we all have more energy to get out and do more... So here is a "heads up" for things going on this month...

Musical Events in Malmo for March include... Malmo International String Festival on 24th March and at the other end of the scale, Uriah Heep are playing at Debaser on 7th March. Check out Malmotown.com for loads of information about things going on each month.

The Book group looked at a couple of interesting reads last month, one factual - "Ways of Seeing" by Berger and one fiction - Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively. The next meeting is on 28th March, email Birgitta for details.

If dance is your thing, the Bollywood Dance Group run by Leena at Ruriksgatan is every Thursday Morning at 10 and every Monday evening at 6 . Email Leena for more details  or phone 0761900987. This Thursday coming... the class is going to be videoed and I hope to be able to give you a clip in the next edition.

Art classes start at Elaine Stolt's this week on Tuesday 6th & Thursday 8th. From 9.30am - 3.00pm including lunch. contact Elaine for details.

Finally, if you want to sharpen up your image, you may have thought about joining one of Hilary's Colour Analysis Workshops ( the next is on 9th March this week!). I spoke to Hilary last week to find out more about her and how she came to be living here.... over to you Hilary....

Hilary in the Maldives last year..
How did you get into the "beauty" business?
"I started my career in England as an apprentice hairdresser and after 5 years training I had the opportunity to move to the U.S.A.to continue my training in the business of BEAUTY!! Makeup had always been my main interest, and I was fortunate to be able to train with one of the best makeup artists in New York at that time."

During the many years I lived in the U.S.A. I worked at Revlon,Estee Lauder,Cliniqe,Coty, learning different aspects of the business – marketing, product development and training.
Finally, in Los Angeles with Merle Norman cosmetics I learned much about colour;not only how to chose the right makeup shades, but how colour makes us feel!!
When did you move here, and what did you do when you arrived?
I moved to Sweden 25 years ago,Colour analysis was very popular so I decided to take an extra training in Los Angeles  as a colour and wardrobe stylist. After learning the language, I set up my own business.
What about now... ?
I have had my business running  now for 23 years and I conduct courses and workshops in colour, makeup and wardrobe planning all over Skåne in Swedish and English. Much of my work is with Medborgarskolan (eve and day courses for adults)I also go out to Businesses and organizations giving talks on “Looking good feeling great”on clutter clearing, and motivational talks on how we can see our life in the most positive way – wherever we may be!! I am very passionate about my work, and truly believe that “ when you look good you feel GREAT!”
